Hey Fritter Nation!

Hope this note finds you staying cool from the hot temperatures and enjoying summer. It has definitely been hot here in the Apple Valley which makes it a great time to take a stroll along the Little Pigeon River or relax in a rocking chair on the porch and enjoy the breeze as it passes through.

For those of you who may not be aware, the Original Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant launched a throw back menu this year featuring artwork from when we opened in the 80’s. I must say it looks pretty cool. The layout is also a bit different making it look similar to a placemat and everybody seems to be loving it. I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on our look.

We are also still running our Country Ham Throw Back Special thru the end of July at the Original Applewood Farmhouse. It’s a great deal if you are in the area and hankering for some country ham! I’ve tried it and its good!

To bring you up to date on a little more about what is going on here in the Valley, our neighbors in the valley have started construction on a few more things for you to enjoy while visiting so please be patient with us as we get thru the dust and work trucks. From what we are hearing … you are going to love the new areas that are being added as they are all guest focused.

As for the restaurant, we added blackberry pancakes and fresh strawberry pancakes to the menu in the spring that have been an absolute hit. Then again who doesn’t like warm fluffy pancakes with chilled fresh fruit, powdered sugar and warm syrup. Make me hungry just thinking about it. Not to mention breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day!

Something else new that you may not have heard yet is that we have a new Corporate Chef. Chris Moore joined our team in June. He is fairly well known in the Knoxville area and has worked with the Knoxville Convention Center, King College, and helped to develop and open several restaurants including helping with the opening of Cinnebare Cinema. Chris also worked with us many years ago before expanding his career. We are glad to have Chris back as part of the team and look forward to working with him. If you see him while visiting, make sure to say hi and welcome him back home to Applewood.

As always I want to mention how much we appreciate each of you …. We have been through a lot together … the pandemic, the workforce shortage following the pandemic, natural disasters, we have celebrated milestones together, shared birthdays, anniversaries, weddings … you name it. That makes us family! We are here for you and looking forward to having you home to Applewood soon.

As always remember to keep the faith and continue to love family, friends and fritters!
