Happy Fall Fritter Nation!

This is possibly one of my favorite times of year in East Tennessee. The weather is mild, and the colors of fall make it a great time to get outdoors and back to nature with family and friends. There is so much to do in this area being so close to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park that it honestly makes it hard to choose sometimes. Personally, I like to hike, fish, hunt, and explore and just enjoy the scenery…oh, and eat. So much has gone on in this world over the past few years, I find it more and more important to get out and do the things you enjoy with the ones you love while you can. I am proud that regardless of the circumstances, we have come thru it together and are stronger because of it. We continue to roll with the changes and lean on one another! We appreciate your support and want you to know we are here for you.

One that that I have noticed in the past year specifically is that people are starting to gather together and dine in, picnic, or just order to go more than dining in a restaurant. Folks want to be with family and friends and reconnect, and I don’t blame them. Life is short! What I do find odd is that it appears people cook less now than ever before and have turned to third party delivery and/or curbside pickup. With grocery prices on the rise, many find that it is about as cheap to order out than come home to cook. Food is more about convenience than home cooking. Still there is nothing like a home cooked meal, regardless of who cooks it…and that is where we come in. Now don’t get me wrong, we LOVE serving you folks in house and enjoy seeing you, that’s what we are here for, but if you or your family are among those that are choosing to stay in these days, let us help you out.

For instance, fall is a great time for warm comfort food like a hearty bowl of soup. As you all are aware we are famous for our signature vegetable soup…and we get tons of great feedback and requests for the recipe for our broccoli cheddar soup. But did you know we offer both in quart containers to go? It accommodates those who want something fast, convenient, and it eliminates the need to shop for groceries and cook, yet still offers a homemade meal served hot and ready to eat. Both the vegetable and broccoli cheddar are a family favorite at my house. Add Fritters and a skillet of cornbread and it doesn’t get much better! But if your family prefers something more substantial than soup…what about a Chicken and Dumplings Cabin Pack? The meal feeds at least 4 people and comes with 2 sides and dessert! I’m telling you…we’ve got your back. We would love for you to let us do the cooking for you whether you dine with us in the restaurant or decided to pick it up and dine at home.

Here at Applewood we are all about accommodating the needs of our guests. If you’re happy, we’re happy…and if you are not happy with us, we want to know about it. We appreciate the opportunity to hear your feedback, suggestions and address any concerns or ideas you may have. We did not make it 35 plus years in this business without each one of you! So as we head into fall and you find yourself hankering for friends, family, fritters and downhome southern cooking…call on us at Applewood. We promise to take good care of you in our house or yours!

Stay happy, healthy, and well fed!
